In this episode of The Wanderings Podcast, Pedro Bonatto talks to Jesse Ratner-Decle and Anand Ondhia about floatation therapy and the benefits of sensory deprivation tanks.
Floatation involves lying in a salt-water solution, in a very spacious tank. There is no light or sound, the temperature of the water and the air is the same as that of your body and you feel like you are floating in space. You get a chance to disconnect from the world and focus on your thoughts, and you get a sense of profound peace and relaxation, deep concentration and increased creativity.
Jesse is the co-founder of Float Toronto, a floatation centre in Toronto, Canada. Jesse is a Holistic Nutritionist, a freestyle frisbee player, and a former varsity basketball point guard out of Mcgill University in Montreal.
Anand is a yoga instructor and floatation specialist, with a range of practices including Mindfulness Meditation, Floatation Therapy and Competitive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Jesse and Anand talked about the benefits of floatation therapy and the fascinating history behind sensory deprivation tanks. One of the great things about Jesse and Anand was learning how they turned their passion into a successful business, and we also talked about their journey into making floatation more accessible to people of all kinds.
