The DNA of Music is a video show featuring long-form interviews and solo performances with musicians from cultures from around the world. The series explores the interconnected nature of musical traditions of our planet, from small villages in Ukraine to deserts in the Near East.

Join our conspiracy to share the cultures of the world.

In the first episode of The DNA of Music, Pedro Bonatto talks to musician and instrument maker Matti Palonen about the music of Finland, an instrument called the kantele, and Matti’s exploration of roots in the music of that country and his adventures combining elements of different traditions. At the end of the interview you will hear an original composition from Matti, inspired by Scandinavian music and his world music influences.
