My second song is out!
I just released my second song! It is called Invocation and it is out on all music platforms. You can listen to it on the links bellow or at your favorite music store. I wanted to share a bit about the process of making it.
I created this song in two stages during my art residency at Yasmina’s B&B in Cairo. One day the Pyramids of Giza got lit up at night, and I ran to the balcony to record something on my drum. I didn’t have a song in mind yet, I just had a rough idea of the mood, and I improvised the percussion part on the tabla, imagining how the music would go.
A while later I sat in front of the computer and came up with the song over the course of a whole night, using the Arabic rhythms on the tabla, layered with melodies from instruments from the Near East all the way to China, including the duduk, ney, oud, accordion, violin, urdhu and sitar. Today I share the results with you.
The song was inspired by my daily view of the pyramids, my experience playing in Egypt, the years of almost starts at music making. When they “turned on” the pyramids that night, I felt compelled to start my journey of making music. So today I share with you this ‘Invocation’. I hope it inspires you and I would love to hear what you think.
